Italeri Bridge

Here' a couple of pictures of the assembled Italeri 1/72 scale bridge kit released in 2008. I put the six pieces together with SuperGlue, undercoated black and then added drybrush coats of Vallejo Game Color Sombre Gray, Cold Gray and Stonewall gray finishing off with a black ink wash. It's a simple but useful kit and can be used for a wide range of historical periods.

The river it crosses is from the ready made section pack from Pegasus. At some point I shall most likely add foliage to the banks etc...The road is flexible crinkled masking tape with a dry brushed brown added for colour. Destroyed 1/72 cart in the foreground for scale.

Odemars Hougoumont

Here are pics of three 1/72 scale buildings I assembled and painted. They started life as resin kits made by Odemars. I based them as if they were stand alone buildings. However they are really designed to fit together side by side with the several other kits Odemars produce to build the entire Chateau as stood on the morning of  June 18th 1815. Revell British Infantryman gives you an idea of their relative size.

(I only bought and painted these three parts and won't be adding any more. See the Odemars website in my links page for more pics and details).

Odemars - Hougoumont, Waterloo 1815 - Gardener's House.

I found this quite a tricky kit to build and get all the walls straight and the roof aligned. The latter was only accomplished with additional help from plastic building card and Milliput modelling putty. I believe the kits are now available in plastic so maybe easier to work with than the resin.

Front view - focal point of the initial French assault on the Chateau.

Zvezda - Vacformed plastic redoubt from the Borodino game set. Based on MDF, painted and textured. Plus added gabions. I used filler to allow anti-cavalry wolf pits and a trench to be represented covering the frontal approaches to the redoubt.

Front / above view. Always a draw back that your bases are rarely universally appropriate for their setting! (ie grass artillery stand bases for a wooden decked redoubt)

Here's a few pics of some 1:72 scale redoubts I have made.

These next seven 1:72 scale sets are made from a couple of boxes of Italeri 6030 Battlefield Accessories. Based on plastic building card, painted with Vallejo Game Color acyrlics and textured with Javis static grass. Ideal for many different periods of history.

Conflix trench sections - 1/72 figure and battery included for scale. These sections come pre-painted but I have dry brushed in some more brown and flocked them to improve their appearance. Great for WW1, ACW (Petersburg etc...), AWI (Yorktown etc...) and other periods. I sell these enhanced versions in my eBay shop from time to time.

A while ago I went through a phase of making some sratch built card & plastic buildings. Turned out okay but definitely wargaming standard rather than model maker.
