Old Pictures
Whilst the new pics with new figures and scenery are pending I thought I'd post a few pics below of a couple of battles I had years ago with my old scenery and figures. Mainly Borodino with one of Waterloo.
Waterloo
Hougoumont bottom left, Le Haie Sainte top center left, Papelotte top center right, Plancenoit top right and Le Belle Alliance right down the main Brussel road from Le Haie Sainte. Not all troops yet deployed. Wellington's troops line the sometimes sunken road at the top left to center of the picture.
Scenery tiles were made of 500mm square polystyrene ceiling tiles - two stuck together to give depth. I now use 50mm deep one piece polystyrene tiles (again 500mm square) cut to size and delivered to me by a local specialist trade outlet for a great price.
Borodino
Looking from behind the French towards the Russians. Napoleon's HQ is in the Shevardino redoubt just in front of the two cottages bottom center. Further up are the Russian lines with the Fleches and the Raevsky redoubt wolf pits and all.
Closer view of Shevardino redoubt and the Fleches. The Shevardino redoubt was captured before the battle of Borodino from the Russians by the French hence it faces towards the camera not towards the Russians.
Opposite flank of the French army here. The Russians placed Platov's cossacks on this side of the field. Borodino village is represented by the golden onion domed church in the middle right if the picture. Raevsky redoubt is behind and to the left of that.
Photo taken from the Russian side around the area of the Utitsa mound. You can more clearly see the wolf pits in the Raevsky redoubt from this angle. You can also see how I have marked the boundaries of woods by painting the ground brown instead of green.
From behind the Utitsa mound. Part of the Russian force in this part of the battlefield was made up of militia - the Opolchenie who are lurking behind the mound in the picture.
